I was really looking forward to this. I've wanted something more precise than my calipers, but I also find reading a vernier scale very slow, so a digital micrometer with a manual back up seemed like a great feature. And I thought the digital readout could help me learn to read a vernier scale more quickly since it would confirm the reading. But there's just one problem with that. There is no vernier scale on the manual scale, which is baffling. The analog mechanism on this is really pro-feeling, until you get to the little plastic holding lever. And the digital part seems a little on the economical side. But it works well and it's a fraction of the price of the name brand. To fully zero the digital reading you do have to hold down the button, otherwise it ends up being a relative mode which in practice isn't that different, and can be useful on its own.It needed a little wiping of some wax or grease before the faces really met up properly. It also didn't seem to arrive completely calibrated. There's a tool included to do so, just haven't refreshed on how to use it.
