I was looking for a good midi controller that I could put in my backpack and take wherever I went, after researching I decided on the always reliable Korg, the size although it is very small due to the design of the keys is very comfortable, the response is excellent and the ease of being able to lower or raise the tone of the keyboard makes it excellent for creating beats, tracks or whatever you are trying to record, also because of the design of the keys you can use it as a drum pad without many problems, the only drawback I see is that it is too light that it even seems fragile and that it can easily break

I am not a serious musician and just make GarageBand tunes to amuse myself, so this issue could be a “me” thing, but the keys on this controller just wobble too much! I was expecting rubber keys, but these are just unstable plastic.It is really a great looking device and seems cool other than the use of a mini-USB connector from last century. I bought a drum machine from KORG back in October 2018 and wasn’t horribly satisfied with it, since it didn’t snap the drum samples to the nearest beat. So I was cautiously optimistic buying a NanoKey2, and I’m genuinely impressed.The keyboard itself is really easy to set up. Since it’s USB-powered I plugged it into the back of my computer, installed the drivers and was good to go.The build quality’s pretty good. An amazing instrument, especially for the price. If you have garage band or ableton, it's pretty much plug and play, which is awesome for diving right in. The keys are all comfortably spaced apart, are very responsive, and make a super satisfying clacking noise when pressed. The only issue I've had so far is the velocity function won't work on Apple computers, so if that's something you're looking for you might want to keep that in mind. The octave, pitch, mod, and sustain buttons all work great, and the instructions included do a great job explaining how to use them.All in all, there really isn't a better midi keyboard out there, and my opinion wouldn't change if it cost three times as much. Lots of reviews already for the Korg nanoKey2, so I will try to keep it short... This is my second MIDI controller - my first is the excellent Akai MPK25 (version 1). If you are primarily a keyboard player and are okay with the fact that the MPK25 is literally twice the size of the nanoKey2, then I think the Akai is a better option for a more traditional feeling keyboard and sample pad pairing. (Note: it's also more expensive, retailing around $100, so perhaps not a fair comparison).But I like the nanoKey2 as the ultimate portable option for capturing ideas on-the-go on my iPhone and/or iPad. What a great little keyboard this is! If all you want is basic keyboard input to your DAW(digital audio workstation) and you want something compact, this is a great choice. Many musicians complain (with good justification) about the feel of many midi keyboards, especially inexpensive ones. They often feel like toys. Most of them make an attempt at reproducing the feel of expensive equipment, even the feel of a real acoustic piano(you know, the kind with strings!), but they often fall short. Granted I'm new to the keyboard and music game, which is why i paid a little money for this, but now I'm a little disappointed in this purchase.It's small, sets up in seconds and has lots of functionality as it easily interfaces with music apps, but i really don't like the keys -- granted they are what they are and they are responsive but I guess I prefer piano-styled keys, so I ended up buying an old 61-key e-mu keyboard to mess around with.Maybe it will turn out in the longrun however
