Nikon AF-S NIKKOR lente de 20 mm f/1.8G ED - ASIN principal.

BETTER than my old 20mm Nikkor. I have been into Nature Photography for decades. Have 2 powerful zoom lenses,but wanted to upgrade my landscape (views) photography. I can get the full power of my 45.7 MP Nikon D850 with this lens since it is not a crop lens (DX). Crop lens greatly reduces MP!Below is a pic at f8. Made a mistake, read 5.6 is sharpest f stop. Still at f8 it is great. Details of small leaves and branches is a sign of a great camera with a very sharp lens when you are some distance away. Too far and you need a 100MP camera or MORE!!!

THIS IS A VERY GOOD LENS FOR WIDE ANGLE PHOTOS, SHOULD BE GOOD FOR A GRAND CANYON VISIT OR SOMEWHERE IN THE HILLY CANYONS OF WESTERN UNITED STATES. THIS IS NOT FOR EVERYDAY NORMAL STREET USE LENS, THIS IS VERY WIDE AND WILL NOT CREAT BOKEH BUT THIS LENS DOES THE JOB WHAT IT IS DESIGNED FOR, THIS HAS GOT NANO CRYSTAL COATING AND ANOTHER COATINGS AND ALSO ED ELEMENTS, HAS LOT OF NICE FEATURES IN THE GLASS. ANOTHER THING IS THAT USING THIS LENS YOU CAN FOCUS REAL CLOSE TO YOUR SUBJECT, LIKE 4-5 INCHES AWAY AND IT WILL STILL FOCUS.YOU CAN USE IT FOR REAL ESTATE PHOTOGRAPHY BUT THIS IS NOT SUPER WIDE LIKE A 14MM. OVERALL THIS IS A NICE PRIME LENS TO HAVE IN YOUR KIT. IT'S A 5 STAR PRODUCT

Right after my delivery of this product, I had to see what kind of difference this 20mm 1.8g was compared to my 35mm 1.8g, which I love and use exclusively. Its like night and day. The 20mm is wide and sharp!!! Right out of camera, I have not witnessed a Nikon prime (and I have the 50,35, and 85 g series) as sharp as this lens. Now the images I uploaded are edits, but not much was done to them. The first shot was taken from my car, while I was in a McDonalds drive through on a cloudy Pennsylvania day. Results, WOW. I am gonna have fun with this lens!! The next and more important example is this panorama that I did of the Bethlehem Steel stacks. With the 35, I barely got the top of the stacks, and I was standing quite a bit away from them. This lens; I am literally up close and personal,

This lens is excellent. I recently went and shot the Milky Way with this lens and my D850. (see attached photo) The wide angle is perfect for shooting the Milky Way. I didn't use any autofocus for this shot obviously, although the autofocus is great. It's excellent, takes incredibly sharp photos, I didn't even think about the lens itself which is, for me, the best thing I can say about it. Nikon blew it out of the water with this lens. Highly recommended.

This has become my favorite lens for astro-landscape photography, shooting Milky Way landscapes at night, especially panoramas where I stitch together multiple 20-second exposures to arrive at an arc as seen in the attached photo.The lens has a solid build, is very sharp and has very low coma. I wrote an extensive article about it on my blog at [...] comparing it to the newer Sigma 20 mm f/1.4 and I decided to stick with the Nikon lens for its very small size and low weight. This has also become my standard wide angle lens to take on short business trips, as it is half the size and a third of the weight of my Nikon 14-24, also 1.5 stops faster.The only nitpick I have is that it has a slight hysteresis and it is a tricky iterative process to find the exact focus that prevents coma.

If you're looking at this review, you are probably thinking about buying it. Listen up amazon browsers!Yes, there are other wide angles (prime/zoom), but for the price in relation to the actual product it produces, I think this lens has that perfect ratio.Yes, you can get a more expensive, "higher quality" one, but you must ask yourself if the price difference is worth it to you. I bought this hoping it would be my new go-to lens for wide field astro photography: Milky Way + terrestrial landscape and such. It performs very well wide open: in my opinion it is the sharpest, reasonably priced, fast aperture, wide angle, auto focus, prime lens that Nikon has ever made. If you need an AF 20mm f/1.8 lens for a Nikon camera - this is the only one i would consider. However for my primary intended use (Nightscapes): the coma lens aberrations, in the corners, at f/1.8 - although minimal - were unacceptable (to me) when compared to my Rokinon 24mm f/1.4 which has zero coma at f/1.4, for less money; granted it is a 24mm not 20mm focal length. The Nikon AF-S 20mm f/1.8 is an amazing lens in all other ways except in this particular scenario.

Note: See comments section for test photos.This review will be updated periodically as I use the lens more.Update 1 (6/3/2015): As I've now used it for half a year, I have added some of the breathtaking photos this lens has allowed me to capture (all shot at f/1.8). One additional thing I've noticed concerns the focus. Although I don't classify it as a con, I have found that the optimal focus of the lens changes at different temperatures. A lot of the photo work I do involves cold conditions (usually 0 C), and I have found that if I correctly focus the camera at infinity at room temperature, the lens will go slightly out of focus when I bring my camera+lens down to freezing temperatures.
